Thank You for your interest in our blackberry patch!
Unfortunately, we will not be offering this portion of our business this year due
to reestablishment of  the blackberries.  We hope to increase their production
by next season.  In addition, we intend to add blueberries  over the next few
years.  Starting next year, because of the limited supply, we will be taking
appointments at the beginning of the season (call 396-0215 to be put on the
list).  If the supply of ripe berries improves during the last week of June and
the first week of July, then we will be open to the general public on a few
mornings during the week.  We will have updates on our answering machine
and this website as they become available.

It is imperative that you call us the night before you intend to pick
to check on our availability.

We anticipate the season will end in mid July.

If you can't arrive right at opening time, then you need to call before you leave
your home.  We don't want you to be disappointed if you arrive at midmorning
only to find that we have already been picked out for the day.  We will be
updated our answering machine as often as we can with picking info.

Thank you for your support during this transition
                                See you next season 2010!

Here are some recommendations for picking:

  • Pick only very ripe berries.
  • Children are attracted to the red ones, but these are sour and will not
    ripen once picked.
  • Berries should be picked early in the morning or when it is coolest
because the hotter it gets, the softer they become.
  • They should be kept in the icebox for only 3 to 4 days and eaten as soon
    as possible.
  • Blackberries freeze well and can be frozen for up to one year.
